Requiem for Boone: Earth Final Conflict #3 Debra Doyle 14 credits | Review: Book 3 of 6 in the Earth: Final Coflict tie-ins series. Review: Requiem for Boone is an incredible look at the life of William Boone, from his service in the SI war to his work in the Denver PD. It also provides brilliant insight into Kate Boone, in the form of correspondence. Every other chapter is written as one of Kate's e-mails. Though this is a somewhat unorthodox method of story-telling, it is very effective in letting the reader understand her, while still advancing the plot. This is a must-read for any fans of the series, especially given that it shows the first meeting between Boone and Augur. One... ...read more |

The Jester James & Andrew Gross Patterson 31 credits | Review: historical novel Review: I liked this book, a simple life story of a poor serf and his dreams, sort of rags to riches with a heavy dose of righteousness.
Quite a page turner, a nice story really...
Review: This book is amazing. I couldn't put it down and read it in two days!
The story is pacy. exciting and heartbreaking in places. Close your eyes and you can see the images unfold as the descriptions are so vivid.
A few times since reading it I have though to myself.. poor Hugh, how much more could he have taken?. Would make a fan... ...read more |

The King of Torts John Grisham 30 credits | Review: Legal thriller Review: Would have made a good short story. Or a great novel, had it been written by Dickens. Review: The first half of this novel is great - just what you would expect from Grisham. The scene is set for a spectatular fall from grace by a young lawyer who lets greed take over his morals. Sadly, once the scene is set absolutely nothing happens. There is no traditional Grisham-twist, in fact there isn't even a story. Once you've read the first few chapters you will be able to predict what will happen in the rest of the book which makes me think Gr... ...read more |

The Last Juror John Grisham 11 credits | Review: Legal thriller set in 1970, Ford County. Review: How anyone can give this book less than 4 stars is beyond me.
Every character is brilliantly thought out, the story is deep and involving. It asks questions of the reader and will no doubt stay with you for a long time after you finish.
Buy Grishams earlier work like this and you won't be disappointed Review: Another very enjoyable Grisham novel. Very good character portrayals and conveying of a community in the deep south. Not quite as action packed as the plot precis on the sleeve ... ...read more |

The Partner John Grisham 13 credits | Review: Legal thriller Review: The same old Grisham. The master of the yarn, but this time a little different. He's not in the courtroom this time - no. There is a lawyer involved, or rather an ex lawyer, but this time he's on the run. He flees from country to country and the people chasing him catch.... well that would be telling wouldn't it. Suffice to say the book is classic Grisham, at his best spinning a yarn without an awful lot going on. It's gripping and the ending well.... that would be telling too. Review: This book really started out well..with a bang. And i... ...read more |
