Artemis Fowl Eoin Colfer 13 credits | Review: I liked this book for its originality. Artemis is perhaps sometimes too "bad" to be true, so you cannot really identify with him, but the whole story is well built and gets your interest until the end. The fairies are, in my opinion, the best charachters in the whole book. You cannot avoid liking Holly and her chief, they are so stubborn and dedicated to their little world but still they are full of humour even facing tragedy. Last but not least it is not a copy of Harry Potter, but is very original. Review: While the book starts off in shades of James Bond, Mission Impossible, GI Jane and many other fil... ...read more |

Death Strike (Left Behind: The Kids) (Vol 8) Jerry B. Jenkins, Tim LaHaye, Chris Fabry 10 credits | Synopsis: As Vicki fights for her life in a detention center, Judd sets a new goal that could put the Young Trib Force in great danger. Review: This book is about four kids, Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan. They are going through the last seven years left on earth after the Rapture. None of them have parents because they were either taken during the Rapture or they died. They have all become Christians and are beginning the fight towards the antichrist, Nicolae Carpathia. Their pastor Bruce was just killed in a bombing in Chicago, and now they have to face the future without parents or a pastor.

Facing the Future (Left Behind: The Kids #4) Jerry B. Jenkins, Tim LaHaye 10 credits | Synopsis: Our four teen heroes--Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan--are still spooked after the amazing events of The Vanishings (the first book in the Left Behind: The Kids series), when Christ called back millions of his faithful in the blink of an eye, leaving these kids who hadn't accepted Jesus as "instant orphans." Facing the Future continues the cliff-hanging ending of the third book, Through the Flames, where the kids successfully pull off a sting on the man who murdered Lionel's uncle and convert countless others to life with Christ. But they soon realize they have even more to worry about: Bruce thinks he's fingered the great deceiver, the Antichrist, ... ...read more |

Second Chance (Left Behind: The Kids #2) Jerry B. Jenkins, Tim LaHaye 7 credits | Synopsis: Picking up where The Vanishings left off, Second Chance is just that: at the close of book one, Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan met up at New Hope Village Church and got the Good News from now-humbled pastor Bruce Barnes (who, despite his degree from Bible college, got left behind after the Rapture for failing to receive Christ, just like the kids). Lionel, nixed by the Messiah on a technicality in book one, jumps at the chance to join the winning team, but the other kids are too angry and confused after watching their world get turned upside down. Book two follows their search for truth as they piece together the wreckage of the Rapture in each of ... ...read more |

The Last Battle C. S. Lewis 8 credits | Review: One of my all-time favourites. I can't think of any other book that has so totally captured all my imagination and emotions like this one; Lewis' writing just sweeps me to higher and higher places with each chapter. The parallels with Biblical teaching about heaven become clearer and clearer as I grow older. Wonderful stuff! Review: Let me suppose that you have read no Narnia books at all and are thinking whether to read them yourself or give them to a child - then I'll say that I cannot recommend them more but read them in order and after you have finished the Silver Chair go back and reread your favour... ...read more |

The Outer Limits: The Lost John Peel 7 credits | Review: I loved this Outer Limits book. I found it to be very exciting and interesting, each page leaving you wanting more, even from the very start. This is a book in the series that ALL Outer Limits fans must own! Review: This wasn't the best Outer Limits book, but I still found it highly enjoyable. Stacy is suspicious when all the kids in her townstart to act like adults. So she decides to investigate. What she discovers may destroy her own individuality. I was dissapointed by the ending, however. Review: The science of brain washing has advanced some, but thank... ...read more |
