Anne of Windy Poplars (Anne of Green Gables) L.M. Montgomery 11 credits | Review: "Anne of Windy Poplars" is definitely the most atypical book in the Anne of Green Gables Series by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Although it is sold as the fourth book in the series it was actually one of the last one written, originally being published in 1936. Anne Shirley, B.A., has taken a job away from Green Gables and as Principal of Summerside High School for three years while she waits for Gilbert Blythe to finish medical school so they can get married. So Gilbert is only present when Anne writes to him as Redmond College in Kingsport (although Montgomery tactfully omits the romantic part of her letters). However, despite these oddities, "Anne of Wi... ...read more |

Ghost of Grania Omalley Michael Morpurgo 19 credits | Review: As I read this book I just couldn't get enough of it and I loved Grania o'Malley. when Jessie called out for her I just wished she would turn up and help her through her problems. When Jack first came into the story I didn't like him too much but as the story developed he became my favorite character. When I was reading this book I was dying to find out what happened but as I got towards the end I started to read it slower as I didn't want the book to end. Review: My children can't get enough of Michael Morpurgo books at the moment and this is the latest in a series that I have read aloud to them. This ... ...read more |

Keepin' it Real (Sweet Valley Jr. High(TM)) Francine Pascal 10 credits | Synopsis: Anna joins the drama club, and wants to spend more of her free time with the other members, even if that means neglecting her other friends. Review: Ever since the death of her brother, Anna feels depressed on a daily basis. All that changes, however, as she's made to join the Drama Club. She starts to relax and even feel great. The fact that she's a natural actress helps along. Unfortunately, her best friend Salvador isn't too happy with the new Anna Wang. Pascal once again describes the young teenage feelings very clearly, even though the layout is slightly confusing. But hey, who said tens were e... ...read more |

Oh Baby! Randi Reisfeld, H.B. Gilmour 11 credits | Review: Abby and Jamie are from an extremely small town and want nothing more then to get out and do something with their lives. They have graduated high school and now aren't really sure what they want to do.
So after some thinking, they decide to be nannies for the first semester instead of going to school, so that they can afford to go to the big city for college. They end up on opposite coasts and they learn all kinds of things.
I really liked this super-fast read. Not only did it have two great main characters, it also had laughs, fights, cute kids, drama, and romance. OH BABY! is something to just relax and read for fun.

The Girls Amy Goldman Koss 7 credits | Synopsis: Each of the girls in a middle-school clique reveals the strong, manipulative hold one of the group exerts on the others, causing hurt and self-doubt among the girls. Review: Amy Golden Koss did a god job at writing this book, "The Girls". I do believe the theme is "keep your enemies close and friends away." This type is a Dial book.
"The Girls" has different characters in each chapter. Teens you're going to like this book if you want to know about friends. However, you might get confused on the chapters but that's what makes it more fun to read it.
This book is very e... ...read more |
